We will combine the actual practice of meditation with study and discussion of Jewish mystical thought from the 18th century to the present day. The two modalities complement each other, as the meditation opens and helps focus our minds, and the study enriches the meditation experience. We will especially be examining the meditation techniques and the thought of Rabbi Kalonymus Kalman Shapiro, the “Rebbe of the Warsaw Ghetto.” His progressive and innovative ideas on education and psychology form the perfect counterpart to his meditations.
